Animals are amazing creatures that have incredible abilities to sense and perceive their surroundings. Some animals can see better in the dark, others can hear sounds that we can't even imagine, and some can even smell things from far away.

However, despite their incredible super senses, many animals are in danger due to poaching.

What is Poaching?

Poaching is when people hunt and kill animals illegally. This means that they are hunting animals that they are not allowed to hunt. People hunt them for fur, tusks, horns, or otheir body parts that can be sold for money.

People who kill animals are called hunters or poachers.

​ELEPHANTS

Elephants are poached for their ivory tusks. Ivory is a hard, white material that comes from the tusks of elephants. Ivory is used to make all sorts of things, such as jewelry, ornaments, and even piano keys.

​RHINOCEROUS

Rhinos are often poached for their horns. Rhino horns are made of a substance called keratin, which is the same material that makes up our hair and nails. However, some people believe that rhino horns have medicinal properties and can be used to cure diseases or improve health.

MUSK DEER

Musk deer are poached because they have a gland in their body that produces a substance called musk, which is highly valued for its strong and pleasant scent. This substance is used to make perfumes, incense, and traditional medicines in many parts of the world.

ANIMALS HUNT FOR SKIN

There are many animals that are hunted for their skin or fur, unfortunately. Here are some examples:

1. Tigers: Tigers are hunted for their beautiful striped fur, which is highly valued for clothing, rugs, and other decorative items.

2. Leopards: Like tigers, leopards are also hunted for their spotted fur.

3. Crocodiles: Crocodile skin is highly valued for its durability and texture, and is used to make luxury leather goods such as handbags, shoes, and belts.

4. Snakes: Some species of snakes, such as the python, are hunted for their skin, which is used to make clothing and accessories.
