Conversion: is when someone changes his/her beliefs.

There are five (5) steps to Conversion:

The Gospel
is preached.

The sinner
believes the
Gospel

The sinner
hears and
repents

The new
believer is
baptized

The believer
receives the
Holy Spirit

Conversion: is when someone changes

his/her beliefs.

1. The gospel was preached.
2. The person/people are convinced that

Jesus is the Son of God and the way to
salvation.

3. They become believers.
4. They are baptized.
5. Sometimes the Holy Spirit would show

he is present by people speaking in
heavenly languages (tongues).

Assignment

Steps to conversion
1.

Cut out a staircase with six steps (use construction paper)

2.

On step one (bottom step) write “non believer. On step seven (top
step) write ‘‘believer”.

3.

Along the spine of the staircase write ‘steps to conversion’

4.

on each of the five other steps write the things a person must do to

be converted.

5.

Give two examples of a person who has been converted to
Christianity (from the Bible)

•This is the passage of Scripture the
eunuch was reading:

•“He was led like a sheep to the slaughter,

and as a lamb before its shearer is

silent,

so he did not open his mouth.

33 In his humiliation he was deprived of
justice.

Who can speak of his descendants?
For his life was taken from the earth.”[b]

•34 The eunuch asked Philip, “Tell me,
please, who is the prophet talking about,
himself or someone else?” 35Then Philip
began with that very passage of Scripture
and told him the good news about Jesus.

•36 As they traveled along the road, they
came to some water and the eunuch
said, “Look, here is water. What can
stand in the way of my being baptized?”
[37] [c] 38 And he gave orders to stop the
chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch
went down into the water and Philip
baptized him. 39When they came up out
of the water, the Spirit of the Lord
suddenly took Philip away, and the
eunuch did not see him again, but went
on his way rejoicing. 40Philip, however,
appeared at Azotus and traveled about,
preaching the gospel in all the towns until
he reached Caesarea.

•26 Now an angel of the Lord
said to Philip, “Go south to the
road—the desert road—that
goes down from Jerusalem to
Gaza.” 27So he started out,
and on his way he met an
Ethiopian[a]eunuch, an
important official in charge of
all the treasury of the Kandake
(which means “queen of the
Ethiopians”). This man had
gone to Jerusalem to worship,
28 and on his way home was
sitting in his chariot reading the
Book of Isaiah the prophet.
29 The Spirit told Philip, “Go to
that chariot and stay near it.”

•30 Then Philip ran up to the
chariot and heard the man
reading Isaiah the prophet.
“Do you understand what you
are reading?” Philip asked.

•31 “How can I,” he said, “unless
someone explains it to me?” So
he invited Philip to come up
and sit with him.

Facts about the Ethiopian Eunuch

• He was from Ethiopia.
• He was the treasurer for

the queen of Ethiopia.

• He was religious.
• He was a eunuch

Eunuch:

A Castrated Man -

A male who had a surgery to prevent him from

having children.

Philip Goes to Gaza

Do you remember Philip’s role in the early church?

 An angel of the Lord told Philip to go south to the Gaza road.

 When Philip arrived on the road that leads to Gaza, he saw an Ethiopian

Eunuch in a chariot.

 The Holy Spirit told Philip to go near the chariot.

Philip Enters the Chariot

• The eunuch was reading

from the book of Isaiah.

• Philip asked the eunuch if

he understood what he
read.

• The eunuch replied, “how

can I…unless someone
explains it to me?”

• The eunuch invited Philip

into the Chariot to explain
the passage.

Isaiah 53:7

“He was led like a sheep to

Meaning of the Passage

Philip explained to the
eunuch that the passage
spoke about Jesus how

he:

1. Did not defend himself

before the chief priests
and Pilate.

2. Was humiliated

(beaten, spit upon,
etc.) and given an
unfair trial.

3. Died without having

any children.

What do you think this passage spoke about?

The Eunuch is Baptized

 The chariot came near some

water.

 After believing the word of God,

the Ethiopian Eunuch asked
Philip to baptize him.

 Philip baptized the Eunuch.

 When they came out of the water

the Holy Spirit took Philip away.

 The Ethiopian Eunuch left

rejoicing.

Judaism vs. Christianity

 The Jews didn’t accept the

Eunuch because he had altered
himself. They believe that the
way God made you is perfect
and no one has the right to
change that, and if you do it
would mean that you have
committed a sin.

 Jesus accepts all regardless of

who they are and what they
have done. All they need to do
is repent.
