Useful websites

Vocaroo.com - students can record
their voice and turn into a QR
code. Create project, put voice to
it.

PBS design squad - good
engineering challenges and
projects for 3-5th.

www.code.org - good for
incorporating coding for all
levels - I have used with
1st-5th. Early finishers, free
time

Pixton.com - PAID - $99
annually for as many classes as
needed. All subject areas

After reading The 3 Little Pigs have

students try and create a sturdy

characters, and main event of a

story, have students reenact
the plot in a movie using the
camera app or stop motion

Science STEM K, 1, 2

K ScienceK-2-ETS1-1 Engineering Design

Have students engineer to solve a problem. Students are outside and it is hot. They

need shade! Have sudents use sketches school to draw their design, then use materials

to make their shade design. Test it outside with thermometers in the sun.

1 Science1-PS4-3 Waves and Their Applications in Technologies for Information

Transfer

See how light transfers through objects. Students should make something with
classroom materials and predict its effect when a beam of light is passed through.

2 Science2-PS1-2 Matter and Its Interactions

States of matter - use different states of matter: oobleck, play doh, water, etc and have

students observe their interactions with the camera app with videos and pictures.

Students then create a video about the best use for one substance.

3 Science3-PS2-1 Motion and Stability: Forces and Interactions

Students will plan and create a miniature playground. Students will then
record themselves talking about the balanced and unbalanced forces on the
playground.

4 Science3-5-ETS1-1 Engineering Design

Egg drop experiment for force and designing something with budgetary

constraints. Students plan and design something with classroom materials to
protect an egg. Each item costs “money” and students have a budget to make

their egg protector.

5 Science3-5-ETS1-2 Engineering Design

Give all students the same problem/opening event. Then, form teams and have
students come up with creative solutions to the problem. Solutions should be
drawn and planned in Sketches School or talked about with Audacity.
