Cold fronts are one of the 4 types of fronts. They happen when a cold air mass and a warm air mass collide. When they collide the warmer air mass goes over the colder air mass and the cold air mass keeps on going forward. They usually bring thunderstorms and snowstorms.

Cold Fronts

Warm fronts the opposite of cold fronts but instead of the cold air pushing the warm air over, the warm air pushes against the cold and away from it. They can cause light rain or storms.

Warm Fronts

Stationary fronts are quite simple. They are formed when a cold front and a warm front run into each other but neither are powerful enough to move the other. Instead, they just sit there until both dissipate and stop. Rain and snow often fall.

the final type of front today is the occluded front. Occluded fronts are a bit confusing as they are created when a warm air mass is squished between 2 cold air masses and pushes the warm air mass up.
