• Proteins are made up of amino acids

• Lipids are made up of fatty acids

• Nucleic acids are made up of nucleotides

• Carbohydrates are made up of monosacharides

Organelles

• Organelles are part of a cell that perform specific functions

• Mitochondria provide energy for the cell

• Cell membranes control what enters and leaves a cell

• Nucleus- contain genetic information and controls cellular actions

Cells

The smallest unit of life, made up of organelles

Tissues

• Organizations of similar cells that act together to perform a common function

• Examples include nervous, epithelial, connective, muscle

Organs

• Groups of tissues working together for a common purpose

• Examples include heart, lungs, brain, and stomach

Organ system

• Groups of organs working together to accomplish a common goal

• Nervous system, digestive system, integumentary system, and respiratory system are examples

Organism

• The sum of systems, organs, tissues, and cells working together to make a living thing
