What is an adjective?

​An adjective is a word that describes (gives information about) a noun.

Adjectives can describe a person, place, or thing. They can also show a person's opinion or feeling.

(red describes the noun car)

Adjectives can go after the verb "to be".

Comparative Adjectives

They are used to compare two or more things. They often end in -er.

Examples:

• The elephant is bigger than the mouse.

• My sister is taller than me.

When an adjective has three or more syllables we use more ______ than.

Example:
My cat is more intelligent than my dog.

Special Adjectives

You have to double the last consonant when the adjective is short and ends in a consonant:
