Fill in the Blanks
The population of Hillville grows at an annual rate of 15%. What will the estimated population of Hillville be in five years?
Type answer...
3
Start at 5,000
1 year later = 5,000 + 15% (0.15 x 5,000 = 750) = 5,750
2 years later = 5,750 + 15% (0.15 x 5750 = 862.5) = 6,612.5
3 years later - 6,612.5 + 15% (0.15 x 6612.5 = 991.875) = 7,604.375
4 years later - 7,604.375 + 15% (0.15 x 7604.375 = 1,140.65625) = 8,745.03125
5 years later - 8,745.03125 + 15% (0.15 x 8745.03125 = 1,311.75469) = 10,056.7859
So...the population would be about 10,057 after 5 years!

The town started with 5,000 people and increased by 15% each year.
y = 5,000 ( 1 + 0.15)x
y = 5000 (1.15)x
Now use this equation to find the population (y) after 5 years (x).

The population of Hillville grows at an annual rate of 15%. What will the estimated population of Hillville be in five years?
Use the formula y=a×(1+r)x and round to the nearest whole number.
Type answer...
7
Multiple Choice
y = 15(35)x
y = 15(1.35)x
y = 15(0.35)x
y = 35(1.15)x

Multiple Choice
The population of Townville is increasing at a rate of 6% each year. If the starting population was 7,000 what equation represents the current population after x number of years?
f(x)=7000(1.6)x
f(x)=7000(0.6)x
f(x)=7000(0.06)x
f(x)=7000(1.06)x

A video is labeled a fan favorite if it receives at least 1,000 views per day. Amelia posts a video that gets 8,192 views on the first day. The number of views decreases by 25% each day after that. In how many days total will the video stop being a fan favorite?
Type answer...

y = 8192( 1 - 0.25)x
y = 8192 (0.75)x
Now try different inputs to see when her views fall below 1,000!
