The prophet (pbuh) said:
Islam is built upon five pillars:
1. The Declaration of Faith (Shahadah)
which means (there is none worthy of
worship except Allah and that Muhammad is
the Messenger of Allah).
2. Establishing regular prayers (Salah).
3. Paying Charity (Zakah).
4. Fasting the month of Ramadan (Sawm).
5.Pilgrimage (Hajj)

Evidence from Hadith for the requirement of Zakah

And those within whose wealth is a known
right For the requester and the deprived

قال تعالى :

"وَالَّذِينَ فِي أَمْوَالِهِمْ حَقٌّ مَعْلُومٌ ﴿٢٤﴾ لِلسَّائِلِ وَالْمَحْرُومِ" ﴿٢٥﴾ سورة المعارجﻗ

Literally means: Purification and growth..
In Islam it means: a specific amount of money
taken from a specific quantity of wealth at a
specific time of the year and given to specific
people so as to purify one’s wealth.

What does Zaka mean?

Zakah is the third Pillar of Islam

Zakah is fard (compulsory ) on every Male or
Female Muslim one a year

which means it’s required for Muslims.

Benefits of Zakah
1. It purifies our heart from
greed and selfishness.
2. It makes stronger ties of
brotherhood between the rich
and the poor.

Types of Zakah

1. Zakat-ul-Fitr or charity of
breakfast is to give a small amount of
money to the poor end of Ramadan
before Eid prayer.

2. Zakat-al-Mal (charity money)

The position of the Muslim who pays his zakat

Allah loves the Muslim who pays
Zakat, and he will give him lots of
rewards (hassanat)

We can give more money
to earn more rewards.
This extra giving is called
Sadaqah or Charity.
