O'Keefe's education taught her traditional art, however when she met Arthur she started to alter her technique.

Through these drawings, she developed a personal language to help express her feelings and ideas.

O'keefe mailed her work to a friend in New York and they showed it to Alfred Stieglitz the art dealer.

In 1916 Alfred
