What is Human Modification to the Environment?

Human beings are constantly modifying the environment to meet their needs. When we modify something we change it. Some of the ways we modify our environment is by building, digging, cutting, or changing the land. Humans change the environment by clearing land, building roads, farming, and drilling for oil.

When we clear land, trees and forest are cut down. The lumber is taken to be used for building materials. Animals are either killed in the process or forced to relocate. The empty land is then used for farming, roads, or buildings homes and buildings.

Roads are built to allow people move through out a town or city with ease. They also allow for people to travel from city to city or state to state.

Land is also used for agriculture. People clear land in order to plant seeds and grow fruits, vegetables, and grains to eat. ​

Land is also modified in order to obtain oil. Fossil fuels are used for energy. Oil and oil by products are used everyday. It is a natural resource that is non renewable. In order to obtain oil, people have to drill deep into the ground or into the ocean.
