Countable nouns are things which can be counted. They have a singular and a plural form.

- An apple, two apples, three apples...

- A banana, two bananas, three bananas...

Examples: eggs, oranges, coins, friends...

Countable Nouns

Countable nouns are things which cannot be counted. They only have a singular form.

- Milk (NOT: a milk, two milks...)

- Rice (NOT: a rice, two rices...)

Examples: water, bread, salt, meat, cheese, fire, homework, advice...

Uncountable Nouns

​To count an uncountable noun, we can use measurement words.

Many/Much/Any/Some

• We can also use quantifiers to say how much or how many of something exists.

We use many with countable nouns.

• There are so many chairs here!

• We don't have many bottles.

We use much with uncountable nouns.

• We had so much fun!

• I don't need much oil.

We use some in affirmative countable or uncountable sentences.

• I have some rice.

• My mom always buys some oranges

​​We use any with negative sentences and questions.

• We don't have any food in the fridge.

• He doesn't have any bananas.

• Do you have any coffee?

• Do you have any boxes?

​If we are talking about a single object, we use a/an.

• There's a wooden door.

• There's an egg.

If the word starts with a vowel, we use ''a'',

If the word starts with a consotant, we use ''an''.
