Intro into Intervals

​Interval:

Describes the distance between two notes.

An Interval is described in 2 ways:

1.) Number: The distance between the notes

2.) Quality: the tonality (the way it sounds)- major, minor, perfect, augmented, or diminished. (We will not concern ourselves with Quality yet)

Just Count the letter names..... including those of the two given notes.

Lets look at note F and high C....

​It is very easy to work out the distance between the two notes!!!!

The interval F to C contains five letter names: F, G, A, B, C.

This means that the interval between F and C is a 5th.
