I am learning how to conjugate the irregular verbs dar, decir, poner, salir, traer, and venir so that I can form sentences associated with planning and throwing parties.

English grammar connection

Just as the English verb to be does not follow a pattern in the present tense (I am, you are, he/she/it is, etc.), irregular verbs in Spanish do not follow the pattern of regular or stem-changing verbs.

Irregular verbs

Dar, decir, poner, salir, traer, and venir are all irregular verbs. Only 2 of these are completely irregular. Let's take a look...

Decir

Decir has several irregular forms. Only the nosotros(as) form is regular.

​Ex: Dicen que es una fiesta de sorpresa.

Venir

Venir is similar to tener, except the nosotros(as) form has an -ir ending, while tener uses -er endings.

​Ex: De dónde vienes?

Other irregular verbs

Dar, poner, salir, and traer are only irregular in the yo form of their present tense conjugations. All other conjugations will follow the regular verb conjugation rules.

Those verbs are only irregular in their "yo" forms. They will follow regular verb endings for all other forms:

Por la noche, mis amigos y yo salimos a cenar

4. So the ending has to be.....
