Belief System

As civilizations became more advanced people looked to a belief system to better
understand life and how life came to be.

The major belief systems of our time have each of the following aspects:

Your Task

You have already begun to create aspects of your civilization
- geographic specifically

Now you are to create a belief system:

● You should NOT completely mimic a major belief

system/religion

● Be creative

Deity or Deities:

Definitions of Deity- god or
goddess, divine status or nature

●

Identify the deity or deities that
are part of your belief system.

Explain roles, powers and
purpose. Reflect on your selected biome. For example, if you selected a tundra biome=Ice Goddess

Important/Sacred Locations:​

• Where will people practice the religion?

  • Judaism: Synagogue (place of worship)

  • Hinduism & Buddhism: Temples/Shrines (place of worship)

  • Hinduism: River (Ganges River-sacred place)

• What places are considered sacred?

Celebrations and Holidays:

●Identify the celebration or holiday and

explain its purpose.

●Think about what celebration or holiday would be tied to a certain belief.
Not every belief needs a celebration or holiday.

●Think about what some of the celebrations and holidays are like from the
religions we have studied. While you should not copy them, it should give
you some ideas.

Create a unique name for your belief system.

Reflect on your selected biome and elements of your created religion.
