this zone is also called twilight zone and it lies 200 to 1,000 meters. this zone is cold and dimly lit. Many species produce their own light through biochemical process known as bioluminescence.

This zone has intense pressure, is dark, cold. Most of the fish living in this zone are black or red in color to defend themselves from predators in the zone above.
