We use comparatives to

​compare a specific characteristic or quality between to nouns or more (people, animals, things).

There are two different ways to form comparatives. ​

Comparatives

Subj + v. To Be + adj (-er) + than + C

Colombia is smaller than Russia

Mazda is cheaper than Mercedes-Benz ​

Short Adjectives

​ Subj + v. To Be + more + adj + than + C

​

La Guajira is more beautiful than Bogota​

Apple is more expensive than Dell ​

Long Adjectives

A superlative adjective expresses the extreme or highest degree of a quality. We use a superlative adjective to describe the extreme quality of one thing in a group of things.
