​These practices are ONLY to help students learn to listen for transitions. These practices do NOT look like any reading or listening exam for levels 3-6.​

ALL reading exams and listening exams for levels 3-6 require students to WRITE what they hear. If students can hear transitions, then perhaps they can hear the important ideas that often come after the transitions. (Transitions are NOT part of an important idea.)

​

-Exams will NOT give students a list of words to listen for.​

-Exams require students to WRITE ALL of the answers themselves.

-Students are strongly encouraged to practice listening every day.​

​ Please be aware that GLS instructors must teach the skills, but students must master them. This ​means students must practice ALL skills as much as they need to outside of class.

​ Students should watch movies in English with no subtitles, read anything they like to read about in English.

The internet and your local county library, as well as NAU's library has many resources for students to use. ​
