Atom is the smallest unit of matter. There are many theories about Atom. Scientists like John Dalton, J.J Thomson, E. Rutherford and Neil Bohr give theories and model of atom.

Dalton's Atomic Theory:

J.J Thomson did an experiment and discovered cathodic rays. These rays are further known as Electron. He provide a model of atom as shown in the figure.

​Thomson Model of atom:

Rutherford did an experiment on atomic theory but his observation was different from Thomson. He discovered that an atom has a nucleus and most of space in atom was empty.
