People called scribes were trained to read and write starting at age 7.

Mummification was the process of making a mummy. There were many different steps in the process.

First, they removed the organs.

Next, they put the organs in Canopic jars.

Then they totally covered the body with Natron salt.

Then they filled the body with saw dust.

Next, they wrapped the body in linen bandages,

They put amulets in the bandages to help with the journey into the afterlife.

​They said a prayer to protect the person in the afterlife.

Finally, they put the mummy into two sarcophaguses and a coffin.

• The pyramids were triangular buildings built as the burial place for the pharaohs.

• Slaves (workers) built the pyramids out of limestone.
