The simple past is a verb tense that is used to talk about events or activities that happened in some point in the past and this action is already finished.

Example:

Picasso died ​in 1973

My father worked in California last year.​

Affirmative Structure

To form affirmative sentences in simple past we need to use the following structure:

Subject + verb in simple past​ + complement

Example:

I went to a party yesterday​.

I ate pupusas last night​.

Negative Structure

To form negative sentences in simple past we need to use the following structure:

Subject + didn't + verb in base form + complement

Example:

I didn't go to a party yesterday​.

I didn't eat pupusas last night​.

Interrogative Structure

To form interrogative sentences in simple past we need to use the following structure:

Did + subject + verb in base form + complement + ?

Did you go to a party yesterday?
