​There are a lot of confusing acronyms, words, and terms for Ap world history.

This presentation /Lesson will get you used to those terms, so you aren't confused. ​

When it comes the AP Exam, as well as in-class activities, we will be doing a lot of writing. There will be 3 main types of writing: SAQ, DBQ, and LEQ. ​

What does each mean?

• SAQ: short answer question

There will be 3 questions with 3 parts; each part should be 3-8 sentences in response (9-24 sentences per question total). ​

• DBQ: document based question

​There will be 7 documents to read, and one question to answer through a 5 paragraph essay.

• LEQ: long essay question

​There will be a couple options to pick, choose one and write a 5 paragraph essay about it.

​It's not enough to give a 1 word answer anymore. Or even a 1 sentence answer.

​

You have to explain what you know, give evidence, and then explain how your evidence proves you are correct. ​

​ATFQ: Answer the full question

An easy way to remember what information to include in your writing answers is "RED"​

​Respond to the question: actually answer what the question is asking

​

Explain evidence: what facts or details support your answer? why?

​

Demonstrate understanding​: connect your answer and your evidence together

Don't LEave your Text on "red"​

​Context: what is the background of this document?

Audience: who was this document written for?

purpose: why was this document created?

point-of-view: what is unique about the author of this document?

significance​: why is this document important to understand this time period, movement, revolution, person, etc.?
