I took a few online classes and I thought they were all effective. Yes, I learned what was outlined in the course.
I took online classes, and it was a mix of effective and ineffective teaching styles.

Distance learning (DL) provides student choice, convenience, and personalization opportunities.
Pre-COVID19, teacher adoption of online teaching tools was minimal.
Students were unfamiliar with online learning platforms.

Teaching is hard. Give students what they need, whether a mental health break or tough love. We do not have jobs without our students, and their learning and well-being is our priority.
Students first
When creating assignments, think about how you could make it digital. Incorporate digital literacy skills into your courses. Ask your students!
Think ahead
Try something new! Look for online platforms that can engage students. Not sure where to start? Ask your colleagues or do a Google Search.
Step out of your comfort zone
