How the early predecessors used to treat Ramadhan before and after.

قال معلى بن الفضل : كانوا يدعون الله تعالى ستة أشهر أن يبلغهم رمضان ، ويدعونه ستة أشهر أن يتقبل منهم

​Mualla bin Al-Fadl said: They used to pray to Allāh Almighty for six months that He make them to reach Ramadan, and for another six months that He accept it from them

How the early predecessors used to treat Ramadhan before and after.

قال يحيى بن أبي كثير كان من دعائهم : اللهم سلمني إلى رمضان ، و سلم لي رمضان ، و تسلمه مني متقبلاً .

Yahya bin Abi Katheer said: One of their supplications was: O Allah, save me till Ramadan, and deliver Ramadan to me, and accept it from me.

وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَحَبُّ الْأَعْمَالِ إِلَى الله أدومها وَإِن قل»

‘A’isha reported God’s Messenger as saying, “The acts most pleasing to God are those which are done most continuously, even if they amount to little.” (Bukhari and Muslim.)​​
