• used when the thing that is being talked about is closest to the listener.

• means THAT OVER THERE

• used when the thing is far from both the speaker and the listener.

​Minji: This camera is small.

​민지: 이 카메라는 작다.

Since Minji is the speaker and she is closest to the camera, then she will use 'This'.​

Since Yerin is the listener and she is closest to the bag, then Minji will use 'That'.​

By adding '것' , you can say this thing, that thing and that thing over there.

​이것 is sometimes shortened to 이거​

이거 + 를/이것 + 을 is shortened to 이걸
