Wild tigers eat as much as 40 pounds of meat at one time. After that they do not eat for several days. A full grown tiger weighs about 230 kgs. and may be 10ft. long including its 3ft. long tail. They can run only short distances. They can run upto a speed of 35 miles per hour. Cheetahs run much faster because their bodies are slim and weightless. But a tiger’s body is heavy so they cannot run so fast.

Tigers hunt at night. They do not run after their prey but sneak up to their prey and then attack it. They are excellent swimmers, unlike most cats, tigers enjoy the water.

Tiger can live up to 20-26 years in the wild. But they are now declared to be an endangered species. This is a result of poaching and a loss of habitat of tigers.
