am / is / are [verb]-ing

You can only use this tense when the action is happening

right now.

IRREGULAR PRESENT PARTICIPLES

​​If a verb ends in -IR annnnnd has a stem change, the present participle will have a stem change as well.

• The​ O will change to a U.

  • Example: The present participle of DORMIR ​is: durmiendo

• The​ E will change to an I.

  • Example: The present participle of SERVIR ​is: sirviendo​

You can't have three vowels in a row. When you see this, change the I to a Y.

IR (to go) is a completely irregular verb.
