You and your fellow inventors are meeting together at the Invention Convention!​

Each group of inventors is about to bring the world a brand-new invention!​

Your group's job is to create an invention and then convince the class why they need it.

Your invention will be based on a word made up of roots familar to you.​

Using the meanings of the roots, invent a new product or a new area of study based on the root meanings. Your invention may be a new version of something that already exists, or it may be something completely new.

For example, "autology" translates as self-study. This could be a new class that allows peole to study themselves. The class helps people look at all areas of their lives and study how to live better and how to improve themselves. ​

"Like WebMD for your mental state, Psyscribe is a “smart”, interactive journal that looks for buzzwords in your diary entries and recommends steps you can take to feel better. Whether you type your entry or speak into a microphone, the Psyscribe can alert your doctor, call your pharmacy for a refill, advise you to get more sunlight, or just recommend popular brands of chocolate and tissues. Given the rise of incidents involving mental illness, our invention could be just in time to get people the help they need."

"At first we were going to call it Psychoscribe, but we figured that would insult people. Psy-scribe is a little hard to say at first, but then rolls off the tongue. It sounds like a more elegant name than diary or journal, and some would even say that the “s” sounds are soothing to an agitated person.
