This is how we move or change objects on a graph

Translations

The beginning (red) triangle is called the pre-image.​

The second (blue) triangle is called the image and its points are marked like this A'​

Translations

This is where we flip an image over the x or y axis. The numbers will stay the same, we just might make some negative!​​

You should be able to fold the paper and them overlap​

Reflection

2. move each point the same distance from the line of reflection

Time for a brain break

This is where we stretch or shrink an image.

​

A scale factor bigger than 1 means we stretch, and a scale factor smaller than one means we shrink​

Dilation

2. Multiply all numbers by the scale factor

3. Identify and graph the new points​

Rotations are where we rotate an image around one point (usually the origin)

​

90 degrees becomes (-y,x)

180 degrees becomes (-x,-y)

270 degrees becomes (​y,-x)
