What was a mummy?

A person or animal that has died.

They are then given a special treatment that preserves their body for a long time.

Not everybody who died in Egypt was mummified.

Who became a mummy?

Only very important people, like the Pharoah, became a mummy.

The Pharoah was the king of all Egypt.

Sometimes, the Pharoah's pets or slaves were mummified too.

Why did the Egyptians make mummies?

They believed that people need to keep their body for the afterlife.
