We would use John es mi amigo because es means is and would go with John is..

soy means I am and eres means you are​

Quien eres tu is asking "who are you?"

In an answer we'd want to say "I am ..."

I am is yo soy!​

To say I am Danielle we want 'yo' for I and 'soy' for am.

Ella means she.. ella soy is she am which wouldn't be correct! ​

Tu eres is you are ​​

.. so we want yo soy for I am​

The correct answer would be:

Ella es una estudiante for she is a student

Ellos son los estudiantes for They are the students!
