Stages in the Life Cycle of Organism

2

Insect can be both helpful and harmful in our daily living. They help in the pollination

crops and decaying of organic matter. In

there are also few insects that spread diseases and damage plants and crops.

Every insect follows different stages of development from an egg to a fully grown organism.

3

This process is called metamorphosis.

metamorphosis is a biological process by which an animal undergoes physical development after it is being hatched or birth.

These are the stages in the life cycle of some insects.

1. Egg. A female insects lays egg

2. Larva. Hatch from an egg but not yet an adult insect. Among butterflies, larvae are the caterpillars.

3. pupa. When the right period comes, larvae are enclosed in a cocoon to

continue the development and maturation.

4

4. Adult it is the stage of a fully grown insect that has full potential to get

food and find partner for mating to hatch eggs again.

The life cycle of insect follow a development process. They grow differently

compared to higher form of animals like dogs and cats .

Some insects develop by means of gradual metamorphosis. It is slightly different from the previous

process that instead of four , the organism develops through three stages.

5

Like the complete metamorphosis, the insects starts eggs. These eggs are sometimes in

case or covered with protective layer. When the eggs hatch,

nymphs go out like small adult insect but usually have no wings.

Nymphs normally molt and change their exoskeleton as they grow until they become a full adult.

The insect is in adult stage when they no longer undergo the process of molting and have a permanent wings.
