Unit 1 Scientific Notation and Ordering Rational Numbers

3

Descending Order= Greatest to Least

Example: 3/4 , 1.25x 10^2, .95

step 1) convert all numbers to decimals (top/bottom) in Desmos, remove% and move decimals two places left

step 2) rewrite the numbers, add zeros and decimals if appropriate

step 3) write top to bottom

 3/4= .75 , 1.25 x 10^2= 125, .95

125

0.95

0.75

4

step 1) convert all numbers to decimals

for fractions (top divided by bottom) in Desmos, Example (1/2 is .50)

For percent- remove % and move decimals two places left

Example ( 30% is .30)

step 2) rewrite the numbers, add zeros and decimals if appropriate

Example 50% is also 0.50

step 3) write top to bottom

 3/4= .75 , 1.25 x 10^2= 125, .95

125

0.95

0.75

Evaluating Equations Review

Substitute the variable in Desmos

Example when p = -4 evaluate the equation type in Desmos 8p -1 on the first line

p= -4 on the second line

8(-4) -1 = -33

make sure you type it in correctly

10

Multiple Choice

when p=2        evaluate ∣4p−10∣ + 3pwhen\ p=2\ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ evaluate\ \left|4p-10\right|\ +\ 3p

Unit 3: Inequalities

Reviewing skills

Step 1: draw a line down the inequality sign >, <,

Step 2) move the number furthest away from the variable first by opposite operation hint *** (not the number by itself)

Step 3) if dividing or multiplying by a negative you flip the inequality

always put your variable on the left if written backwards example 3 < b rewrite to b > 3

12

Draw

Solve the inequality : 1st multiply both sides times 6, add 4 to both sides, divide by 2

13

Multiple Choice

Solve the inequality

1

x is less than or equal to 3

2

x is less than or equal to 5

3

x is greater than or equal to 8

4

3

x > -8

4

x > 8

Unit 5: Graphing

16

Key things to remember

Proportional goes through (0,0) the center of the graph, the equation does not have a plus or minus (y= 2x) you have to do y over x to find the slope

Additive- does not go through (0,0) but does have a plus or minus in the equation y= x + 2
