The year 2000 was the millennium year, wherein the World Health Organization together with global communities from United Nation (UN) summit created a historic commitment that envisions to eliminate extreme poverty and improve the health and wellness of people from countries that belong in the poverty line, this is called the Millennium Development Goals or MDGs. The long term plan was expected to be completed after 15 years of the commitment period.

MDGs’ 8 Goals
1.Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
Decrease poverty in poor and developing countries
Achieve decent employment and livelihood for women, men, and young people
2.Achieve universal primary education
Increase in literacy rate
by 2015, all children can complete a full course of primary education in schools

3. Promote gender equality and empower women
respect for gender and women rights
to abolish gender inequality in work and education
4. Reduce child mortality rate
the goal is to at least reduce the mortality rate by 63%
child survival from 5 years and below

5. Improve maternal health
reduce the death rate of mothers after childbirth
provides universal access to reproductive health programs

Under the guidance and leadership of WHO, government from both rich and developing countries, together with global organizations and communities committed to achieving the MDGs. The report will depend on the effort of the international community to follow the strategies and inputs in a collective work.

Health Tip
The MDGs under the supervision of WHO aims to reverse the incidents of dengue and malaria, dengue and malaria are both carried by mosquitoes, and as a tropical country, you need to clean your surroundings more often to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds.
