What are Longitudes?
Longitudes are vertical lines extending from the Noth Pole to the South Pole.
They are imaginary lines up between the Arctic and Antarctic stretching from north to south.
3
The globe is divided into 360 longitudes, but unlike Latitudes there is not an easy point to be a reference, such as an equator for announcing zero degree.
To avoid confusion the world countries have approved that Latitudes(zero) is the line passes through the Royal Observatory at Greenwich.
