​Convergent Plate Boundaries

​Any time plates move towards eachother, you have a convergent plate boundary, however, there are three different kinds.

​

​The first kind of convergent plate boundary is called a normal "Continental- Continental Convergent Boundary"

Its motion is when two continental plates move towards each other or collide.
When this happens(because they are the same density) they crumble up and for mountains

​Oceanic-Continental Convergent Boundary

​The second type of convergent plate boundary is called a oceanic-continental boundary.

​

​This is when a dense and heavy oceanic plate and a less dense continental plate collide. The oceanic plate subducts under the continental plate

​

​This creates deep ocean trenches, and lines of volcanoes

​Oceanic-Oceanic Convergent Boundar

​The last type of convergent boundary is an oceanic-oceanic convergent boundary.

​

​This occurs when two oceanic plates collide and the older, denser one will sink beneath the younger, less dense one.

​

​A deep ocean trench will form, and a line of volcanoes

​Divergent Boundary

​The next type of boundary is called a divergent boundary. This is when two plates move away from each other

​

​Mid ocean ridges form along divergent plate boundaries. It also forms new crust, and rift valley's

​Transform Boundary

​The last type of boundary is called a transform boundary

​

​This is when two plates slide past each other

​

​This causes earthquakes to happen because the stress builds up when they get stuck and when it releases it causes vibrations.
