​Plurals

​To change Nouns from singular to plural, usually you just add s.

Apples

Bananas

But be carefull! For some words, the sound changes the spelling. For example, when a word ends in f or fe:

leaf thief life life

​The plural ends in a v sound. So we change the f and fe to a v and add es:

​ leaves thieves lives knives

When a plural ends in a iz sound, like foxes, we spell it with es.

Witches need watches.

​We also add es to words that end in o.

​But watch out, there are exceptions!

Words that end ​in consonant + y, we change the y for and i and add es.

​But when it ends in vowel + y, we just add s.
