​ Living things cannot live in isolation. Living things depend on other organisms for its survival. There is no living thing that can survive in isolation.

​·       Individuals need to live in close contact with members of the same species in order to perform their three vital functions (nutrition, interaction and reproduction). Living things from the same species can reproduce with each other and produce fertile offspring.
