Case Study: USA​

​In the USA, transportation is the biggest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions.

Most cars, planes, boats, lorries, trains etc burn fossil fuels in order to move.

Twenty-nine percent of all emissions come from transportation, and the second biggest contributor is electricity production at twenty-five percent.

​Commercial Travel

Most transportation emissions come from commercial travel - delivering things around the world in planes, lorries, trains and ships.

​Personal vehicles like cars and motorbikes are not the biggest problem.

Electric Vehicles (EVs)

​In the USA, greenhouse gas emissions from transportation are increasing, while emissions from electricity production are decreasing.

​But, there might be a big change soon...

​More EVs = More Electricity Production

Thanks to EVs, maybe in the future travel will not emit so much greenhouse gas into the atmosphere.

​We will need to produce electricity using renewable methods though. Remember, electricity production is still the second biggest source of greenhouse gas emissions.
