Travel and Climate Change

In the USA, transportation is the biggest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions.

Most cars, planes, boats, lorries, trains etc burn fossil fuels in order to move.

Twenty-nine percent of all emissions come from transportation, and the second biggest contributor is electricity production at twenty-five percent.

Most transportation emissions come from commercial travel - delivering things around the world in planes, lorries, trains and ships.

Personal vehicles like cars and motorbikes are not the biggest problem.

In the USA, greenhouse gas emissions from transportation are increasing, while emissions from electricity production are decreasing.

But, there might be a big change soon...

Thanks to EVs, maybe in the future travel will not emit so much greenhouse gas into the atmosphere.

We will need to produce electricity using renewable methods though. Remember, electricity production is still the second biggest source of greenhouse gas emissions.
