The Philippine Informal Reading Inventory

​ The Philippine Informal Reading Inventory (Phil-IRI) is an initiative of the Bureau of Learning Delivery, Department of Education that directly addresses its thrust to make every Filipino child reader. It is anchored on the flagship program of the Department: “Every Child A Reader Program,” which aims to make every Filipino child a reader and a writer at his/her grade level.

REMEMBER:

1. The reading passage is written in EXPOSITORY TEXTS or INFORMATIONAL TEXTS are non-fiction texts that give facts and information about a topic.

2. Level of comprehension questions

a. LITERAL- questions in which the answers are explicitly stated in the text

​

b. INFERENTIAL- questions in which the answers are not explicitly or directly stated in the text.

​

c. CRITICAL- questions which require the learner to analyze, synthesize, and make judgments on the author’s idea

3. This reading pre-test will evaluate or assess your reading skills both SILENT READING and COMPREHENSION SKILLS.
