​Philippe de Vitry (1291-1361)

• Motets by de Vitry were characterized by the use of ​isorthytmic and longer tenor, complex rhythms, ponderous melodic lines in the lower voices against faster notes of the upper voices.

• ​Vitry was the first to introduce two elements of tenor motet, i.e., color and talea.
