​Graphing on the Coordinate Plane Song

​The last lesson we identified ordered pairs today we will graph them on our whiteboards. Let's first review identifying ordered pairs.

​Start at the origin (0,0)

• ​If x is positve move to the right, if negative move to the left, if 0 do not move stay at (0,0). Remember Shuffle on the Carpet, if it is zero you do not shuffle anywhere.

• ​From that spot, if y is positive move up, if y is negative move down, if 0 do not move. Climb up or down the stairs.

• ​Put your point at that spot.

​Your Turn. Graph the following points on your whiteboard.

A: ​(1,1)

B:​ (-2,2)

C: (-4,-2)​

D: (5,-4)​​

• ​Points reflected across the x-axis will have the same x-coordinate and their y-coordinates will be opposites.(x,y) and (x,-y)

• ​Points reflected across the y-axis will have the same y-coordinates and their x-coordinates will be opposites.(x,y) and (-x,y)
