“will not” or “won’t” is the negative form

 - We can use “will and will not” to talk about the         future.

 - We also use will to make predictions, talk about       decisions, and to make promises, offers,                  requests and threats.

​When to use WILL or WILL NOT/ WON'T?

1. For things that we decide to do now. (Rapid Decisions)

​ eg- I will call a taxi for you.

​ - I will have the chicken sandwich please.

​

​ 2. When we think or believe something about the future. (Prediction)

​ -The President will not be re-elected at the next election.

​Complete the sentences with will or will not/ won't to make predictions about the future

​3. To make decisions

• ​When we make decisions at the same time as we speak, we use “will”.

​

A. For example, in a restaurant:

1. Waiter: “What would you like to eat?”

Customer: “I think I’ll have the chicken.”

​B. Other examples:

1. ​“I’m cold. I think I’ll put the heater on.”

2. ​ “Look, that’s my bus. I’ll catch up with you later.”

​4. To make promises, offers, requests and threats

1. ​Promises: “I’ll help you with your homework tomorrow.”​

2. Offers: “I’ll look after the children for you if you like.”

3. Requests: “Will you tell Tony I called?”

4. ​Threats: “If you cheat again, I’ll tell the teacher."
