How much to own?

• The typical hotspot costs about $500 new

• The Bobcat 300 Miner (which John uses and recommends) costs $429 plus shipping

• The FreedomFi 5G-capable miner is expected to cost between $1,000 and $5,000

How much to run?

• Electricity - consumes about as much energy as a 5W lightbulb (less than $10/year in most residential areas)

• Data - a miner that runs 24/7 will use 20-30GB of data per month from your WiFi plan

Helium app - tracks all hotspots associated with your Helium wallet, plus any hotspots you follow

John's Helium Earnings Spreadsheet - updated monthly

1. Host a hotspot in your house

   1. Must be within 8 miles of another active hotspot

   2. Rewards shared at 80% to owner, 20% to host

   3. Pay 50% of the cost of the miner to receive 50% of the rewards

2. Co-host a hotspot at someone else's house

   1. Receive a monthly percentage equal to the percentage that you covered

How can I receive my monthly rewards?

 - Helium Token (HNT) or USD, depending on the agreement between host and owner

How soon can I get a miner up and running in my house?

 - Due to high demand and parts shortages, most hotspot miners are severely back-ordered. Bobcat miners are shipping 12-20 weeks from the purchase date, while most other makers are taking even longer :/

What's the time commitment on this thing?

 - It takes about 1 hour to get it all set up. After that it takes maybe 1-2 hours of maintenance per week to keep it up and running.
