​1) Vasco Da Gama was the first to reach India in 1494.

​2) Many European traders like the French, Dutch and English set up their trading centers in India but the British emerged most powerful.

​3) The British gained complete control over Bengal after the "Battle of Plassey" and the "Battle of Buxar".

4) In 1859, a revolt took place against the British. This revolt was known as "The Revolt Of 1857" or "Sepoy Mutiny".
