Curriculum Night 2021

• This is a challenging fast paced course

• ​Students had some geography content in 6th grade & US History in 8th grade

  ​Social Studies is a core subject area

• ​Counts towards GPA & class rank

​Learning Management System

• Handout has directions for being an observer

• Due dates and assignments on the CALENDAR

• Documents and assignments are in MODULES

• Students need to check the calendar daily - assignments are posted on due dates

• ​Reading  / Writing / Short and Long Term memory assessments - map and chapter tests

• Fast paced class / overlapping due dates and ongoing projects

• Critical thinking and analysis based questions

• Mature behavior and organization required

• Preparing students to take AP level courses in the future - 10th, 11th, 12th grade​

​Verbal warning then...

• Contact parents then...

• Office Referral and possibly:

  • 2 hour D-hall after school or

  • 4 hour D-hall on Fridays from 3:45-7:45 pm

​Gradebook and attendance

• 1 free tardy per 9 week grading period

• Avg = 60% - test grades / 40% - daily grades

• Quizzes count as 2 daily grades

​1 class period late = up to a 70%

• 2 class periods late = up to a 50%

• No credit given after 2 class periods late  

​Food / Drinks:

• Water is allowed

• Food, candy, cokes, Starbucks, etc. - not allowed inside the classroom

• Eat and drink in the cafeteria only

​Technology:

• Cell phones are not allowed during class unless we are using an app for educational reasons

• Headphones and music are not allowed

• Laptops used on a regular basis - please charge them overnight

​Unfortunately, it is not offered in Advanced World Geography

Late work and test corrections are accepted
