​Fossil Fuels- are natural fuel that provide energy formed in the geological past, from the remains of living organisms.

​Coal

• Coal- black or dark brown rock formed from the remains of dead plants ​ called Peet.

• ​Fossil fuel in solid form.

• ​Coal was formed by trees that died and decayed in swamps millions of years ago.

• ​Over time they were buried down into the Earth.

• ​Heat a Pressure transformed the peet into hard rocks we now call coal.

• ​Coal is primarily used today to create electric energy.

​Oil

• ​OIl- also called petroleum, is created from dead organisms such as algae and other small sea creatures.

• ​Fossil fuel in liquid form

• ​Oil is found deep underground in resevoirs. The pressure from the layers above cause the oil to seep out into "pores".

• ​People look for ways to drill down into the rock and find ways of capturing the oil.

• ​Oil is primarily used for cars.

​Natural Gas

​Natural Gas- is a fossil fuel formed by the remains of plants and animals.

• ​Fossil fuel in gas form

• ​Natural gas, like oil is formed in deeper layers of the Eartha nd can be extracted from drilling deep down into the Earth.

• ​Natural gas is used in homes for heat, stoves,and other things.
