​Halloween in America is celebrated on October 31.

Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, attending costume parties, decorating homes and carving pumpkins into jack-o'-lanterns.

Like Christmas and Valentine's Day, Halloween is a cultural import from western countries.

Dressing up cute or scary, many Japanese people participate in Halloween costume parades and go to parties.

It has turned into a massive cosplay event.

The popularity of Halloween created a garbage problem on streets.

One day, singer Kyary Pamyu Pamyu called on partygoers in Tokyo to keep the streets clean by using orange jack-o'-lantern-themed garbage bags.

"I want to see people in the streets fill the bags in a kawaii way," she said.
