Thousands of years ago, Earth’s climate turned very cold. Large amounts of water became ice and formed glaciers, covering much of the Northern Hemisphere. Sea levels fell, which turned the ocean floor in some areas into dry land. A land bridge formed between Alaska and Asia, connecting those two masses of land.
