Bilangan Berpangkat Positif

1) Perkalian bilangan berpangkat

aⁿ = a x a x a x a x .... x a (sebanyak n)

Contoh : 2²x 2³ = 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x2 = 2⁵

ternyata 2² x 2³ = 2²⁺³

sehingga secara umum dapat dituliskan :

a^m x aⁿ = a^m+n

2) Pembagian bilangan berpangkat

Contoh : $\frac{3^5}{3^2}$ = $\frac{3\ x\ 3\ x\ 3\ x\ 3\ x\ 3}{3\ x\ 3\ x\ 3}$

menjadi = 3 x 3
atau =

3^2

sehingga

\frac{3^5}{3^2}

=

3^{5-3}

=

3^2

secara umum bisa dituliskan

\frac{a^m}{a^n}\ =\ a^{m-n}

3) Pangkat Nol

$Contoh\ :\ \frac{5^2}{5^2}=5^{2-2}\ =5^0$

jadi $\frac{5^2}{5^2}=1,\ sehingga\ 5^{0\ }=\ 1$
dan secara umum : $a^0\ =\ 1$

4) Pangkat negatif

Contoh : $\frac{1}{8}=\frac{2^0}{2^3}=2^{0-3}\ =\ 2^{-3}$

sehingga :

\frac{1}{8}=2^{-3}

dan

\frac{1}{8}=\frac{1}{2^3}

sehingga,

2^{-3}\ =\ \frac{1}{2^3}

dan secara umum.....

a^{-n\ }=\ \frac{1}{a^n}
