Elementary particles
In general, there are three general types of elementary particles in the standard model:
Hadrons: particles made of quarks
Leptons: particles not made of quarks
Force carriers: gluon and gauge bosons
8
Hadrons
Hadrons are particles composed of quarks. Please be aware that not all particles are hadrons, for example gluons and gauge bosons are not hadrons (we'll learn about them next week).
There are two types of Hadrons:
Mesons: consist of two quarks.
Baryons: consist of three quarks.
